Back to School Sale! Slugline is 40% Off For Two Days

Last year, we received a nice email from a film student at NYU asking about an educational discount. Unfortunately, there's no mechanism for this in the App Store (except the volume educational pricing, which we do participate in), so we hatched a plan to do a back to school sale that anyone could take advantage of.

Does the timing actually make any sense? Are you even a student? Who cares? Slugline is on sale for 40% off through Thursday. That's $23.99 instead of the usual $39.99.

When you are learning screenwriting, you don't need expensive software. You just need to write. Slugline is a great choice for students, and we hope this sale makes it easier to get going.

Limited Run of Slugline T-Shirts

We are making a limited run of t-shirts through The Cotton Bureau. There’s just a two week window to place your order, and then we’re done, so get one (or more) while you can!

The shirts are super soft American Apparel tri-blend, in athletic gray or sedentary black. They are printed with a water-based ink, so the design is pleasantly faded, as if you’ve already been wearing it for years. There’s no URL or promotional text on the shirts at all, so people will have to be as cool as you to even know what it is.

“What are you, Superman?” they will ask.

And you will just wink, knowingly. And then the barista will pronounce your name wrong.

Go, now. Before I change my mind.

Slugline 1.1.0

We. Are. Back.

Slugline 1.1.0 is available now in the Mac App Store. This free update fixes bugs and makes things better, but perhaps most importantly, it exists!

Yes, it's been a while since our last update. We've been busy working on some very cool long-term projects, including some exciting new features for Slugline, but this update fixes a couple of nasty bugs that we just recently cracked:

  • When you turn off Character CONT’Ds in Document Settings, they are now really off, even in Preview and Print.
  • Pressing Tab at the end of a Dialogue element adds a Parenthetical to the next line. (Softly.)
  • We fixed a rare-but-nasty bug where missing or corrupted system fonts could result in no as-you-type formatting, changing Slugline from a screenwriting app into, well, an app.

Other changes:

  • You can now search the help documentation! And Slugline’s menus! Try it with ⌘ + ⇧ + /.
  • We fixed a rare case where long notes could be truncated in the Outline.
  • Arrow keys now nudge the Preview scroll in a soothing, pleasant manner.
  • When you start a Character with @, Slugline now offers auto-complete suggestions for other “forced” character names.
  • Speaking of forcing Character elements, you can now do that from the context menu.
  • We no longer auto-capitalize right after an open-parenthesis (happily).
  • Slugline now re-parses after a find/replace.

As always, you can download a free, 14-day trial of Slugline. The trial version has also been updated with the 1.1.0 fixes.

If you love Slugline, we'd be grateful for your rating or review, even if you've written one before—as the reviews reset with each update. If you ever have any questions, problems or ideas for future Slugline features, let us know!
